Environmental commitment

We are commited to working sustainably and responsibly, protecting the environment for future generations.

Working in a sustainable and responsible manner.

We are all becoming increasingly conscious of the importance of caring for our environment as we go about our daily lives, and this extends to how we work.

For Wessex Joinery, practicing sustainable joinery means thinking about the potential environmental impact at every stage of the projects that we work on.

Responsibly sourced wood

Fundamental to the practice of sustainable joinery is using wood from responsibly managed forests that have been certified by organisations like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

Wood is one of the world’s most versatile resources; durable, recyclable and beautiful, it has a lower carbon footprint than other building materials. However, just as we depend on forests, forests depend on us. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) unites individuals, businesses, governments, and NGOs in working towards a common goal of “protecting healthy, resilient forests for all, forever”. FSC certification is a proven method to help industries ensure healthy, resilient forests for generations to come.

By choosing wood that comes from well-managed forests we can help to prevent deforestation and promote the conservation of natural habitats.

Minimising waste

Not only do we try using wood from sustainable sources wherever possible but we also consider how best to manage any waste that is produced.

We truly understand the value of the resources we buy and use and are always careful to create minimum waste. We also make sure we recycle any waste wood in the most responsible way possible.

Low-VOC finishes

Finally, when it comes to paints, varnishes, glues, and any other finishing products we propose using eco-friendly options that are free from harmful solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Using more natural products helps reduce emissions which is better for air quality, it also helps reduce the risk of respiratory issues and allergies.

Stephen and his team are courteous, considerate and were respectful of our home – always causing minimum inconvenience and mess which was much appreciated! Several people have commented on the quality of their workmanship. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Stephen and his team to anyone looking for professional joinery work.
